Virgin Creek Falls is located in Girdwood, Alaska and is a quick easy hike. The short walk will take you through temperate rainforest reminiscent of southeast Alaska, meandering between lush trees covered in velvety green moss, before giving way to a gorgeous little waterfall framed by forest and rocky walls. It’s definitely a fan favorite- Virgin Creek is one of my favorite places to take visiting friends as we pass between Anchorage and the Kenai Peninsula for some quick and beautiful photos.

How To Get To The Virgin Creek Trailhead

Turn onto the Alyeska Highway from the Seward Highway, south of Anchorage. This will take you to the community of Girdwood. You’ll take a right on Timberline Drive and take it to the end at a cul de sac.

There’s a small sign marking the start of the trail. Do be careful about where you park as this is a neighborhood, so don’t block or park in people’s private driveways.

Hiking To Virgin Creek Falls

The trail to the viewpoint for Virgin Creek Falls is about 0.5 miles and has a few slight ups and downs and can generally be considered easy. The trail can be quite muddy and slippery at times so do be careful. There are some sections where boards have been laid down to walk on.
